| So I am technically a californian now, I think. I've lived here for 4 weeks (although for 2 of those I was a resident of Hawaii on the island of Kauai.) That's really weird. I'd never even been to this place til I started dating Jaci.
I've been married for a little over 3 weeks now and Jaci still thinks I'm reasonably good looking. How about that? We took an awesome 2 week honeymoon in Kauai, stayed in a private rental bungalo basically. We had a full kitchen, laundry, cable, wireless. It was pretty sweet. We didn't even fight at all. We hiked a lot, jumped off some waterfalls, surfed, snorkeled, kayaked and slept a lot.
The wedding itself was the best I've ever been to, no really, objectively it was sweet. The ceremony was like 25 min I think. There was no wait for food because we did the reception right at the place, so no getting lost and being hungry. This was possible because a photographer friend suggested we get our pics taken before the ceremony. Best advice we got. I know tradition says its bad luck, but it couldn't have been sweeter. The photographer escorted me to a courtyard where she was waiting for me, all ready in her dress and vail. We "practiced" our kiss and prayed together, then took all the pics while we were all fresh and not sweaty. It got rid of some of the nerves.
Now we're trying to raise some support before we leave for summer project next week.
| Saturday, I packed up my Ohio life and took it to California. I started driving the budget rental truck at 1:20, picked my dad up in Columbus where he and I continued a 38ish hour drive through IN, IL, MO, OK, TX, NM, AZ and finally CA. we arrived monday (today for me) at about 3:30pm pacific time.
It feels good to be here with Jaci and to have my dad experience what will be my new life. We're waiting for my sister to get here and my mom will come in Thursday after she's done teaching school.
I love our apartment although we have more crap than I imagined and though spacious it isn't huge.
My dad's and my time was cool. We woke up this morning in Falgstaff AZ looking at the sun coming up over the mountains and spent the first part of our last leg discussing how great and creative God is and how people are "without excuse" given creation awesomeness. We spent time reading the word and singing old hymns. it was pretty sweet. I'm blessed and grateful for my dad.
| We found an apartment Saturday! It's a sweet Old spanish looking one bedroom w/ a separate dining room, spacious rooms in a good part of Long Beach. We're pretty stoked. God totally showed up. We looked at it, applied and were accepted w/in 3 hours. I'll have pics shortly. | | |
| I'm in Southern CA right now, flew in this morning. Jaci and I are apartment hunting. Right now she's doing the work and I'm providing moral support and looking hot. It's really warm and sunny right now as you might expect.

| 33 days to go til I have the jewelry to prove I'm off the market! Soon people will believe me and stop laughing when I tell them I'm engaged. Just kidding. No one's actually laughed...not to my face anyway.
I got a chest and back wax today. It wasn't to bad... until the lady put hot wax on me and ripped my skin off. I'm pretty sure it's cruel and unusual punishment somewhere in the world, possibly the most painful thing my physical body has endured, and I was cut by a chainsaw once.
